Don’t know if this is the one to help us with the stadium funding. But I’m sure someone will make a few Bob out of it.
Giant new warehouse on Newmarket Lane in Stanley, which developers claim will create 1,500 jobs, given planning permission
A huge new warehouse to be built on former greenbelt land on Wakefield's northern edge has been given planning permission.
Just looking through the WE report, this paragraph took my eye.
The warehouse will be built on land which was allocated for employment when planning permission was given for a new community stadium on Newmarket Lane in 2012.
That development, which would have seen Wakefield Trinity relocate from Belle Vue to the stadium, never came to fruition however.
My concern is this, the land in question is I believe plot 4, my understanding is that plot 8 is the development that releases stadium funding, if plot 8 is eventually given planning permission. Therefore, how did the original site for community stadium become dependent on plot 8, when plot 4 is now up and running for development, before our stadium funding has been secured?
