Since Grix left, Hampshire, Jowitt, Walker, Escare & Gigot have all played full back, in less than 2 years. Maybe fans would show more patience if the coach showed some in team selection?! Let's have the same 1, 6 & 7 for at least 6 or 7 games, then maybe a proper fair and judgment could be made? Also if Patton came in, you wouldn't replace anyone, how could we afford him with no-one being released?
I've said that all along. We don't have the money to replace people already on contract so he DP discussion is just hypothetical for me. I'm not overly keen anyway. The fact the Warrington fans have never taken to him says something.
All of those full backs have been injured at one time or another. I'm pretty sure Chester would like to name the same 1, 6 and 7 as well. Escare was signed when everyone else was injured. We needed him badly. That was a good decision Walker was signed when Hampshire was not signing a contract as we only had one full back at the club Hampshire once Walker was signed wouldn't be on my full back list as he was bought as a half back but sometimes was the best option Jowitt had his chances and was unfortunately injured which stopped his run. He is good at times but inconsistent Gigot I'm not sure I would have signed but we were low on numbers because of injury and he covers a lot of positions so might turn out to be a good purchase but he hasn't played long enough to tell.

Yep you make some good points, and a lot of what you say is correct. I wasn't being funny when naming all them, just trying to make a point. Take Hampshire for example, he has played full back, wing, stand off, scrum half and hooker since he's been here! Did he not play on the wing against London last season in that final match? Escare full back, Miller and Brough in the halves? Not all of Chesters' tinkering has been enforced, that's all i'm saying, I think he makes a rod for his own back sometimes as re. selections of players in certain positions, therefore opening himself up to criticism more than he should. As re. Patton, like you i'm not sure about him, I have seen some good stuff from him, but my worry with so called 'fringe' players at the 'bigger' clubs is, they are made to look better than they are by having good players around them, they are carried sometimes........but, maybe he needs a fresh challenge and could succeed with a proper run of games, but would he get that under Chester anyway?!?
Well thankfully Max Jowitt looks a promising halfback, which is a good thing because clearly CC doesn't see his future at FB . In fact many posters on here don't. I hope that Walker is shown more consideration and that we can once and for all have someone settled in that position - oh and the same goes for every other position in the team!

Walker was signed by the club at least 2 month before the business with Hampshire who at the time of signing Walker had not been offered any contract at all, and when the offer came was less than he was already on, as your strong on your stats, could you tell me who made the most breaks, had the most assists, scored more tries, made most metres last season, for the benefit of those who aren't into stats it was Ryan Hampshire, just saying like, and fwiw when he came back against Catalans in the first debacle he wasn't fit not having trained all through the lock down with a bad knee injury but as was seen by plenty was still fitter than most of the other players.

Might have been fitter but seemed to do a lot of running around shirt tugging not much else, wouldn't want to especially pick on him but other than navarrete am struggling to think of anyone who did much
I like hampshire but to me he's either a full back or stand off as he's an individual rather than an organiser and or kicker in open play

Hampshire like the rest of the team has to play where Chester wants him to.

That's part of the problem. FB in the modern game organises the defense and needs those skills to be successful. And admittedly Catalan were offside a lot but quite a few moves stopped at him because wasn't quick enough to move the ball. A
Patton's looked ok playing with a organised side with s bit of experience and confidence Hampshire could do the same mopseys right half backs need to play behind a rampant pack cmon our lot couldn't buust s a paper bag sorry to upset folk apart from Pitts and naverretta couldn't play happy familys

That's the point, he wasn't fit, he hadn't trained at all because of a knee injury which required specialist treatment, and more to the point what does it tell you about the coaching staff when he's in a better condition than most of the team.
