Would like to see a hooker come in as replacement for Randal, thought we played some of our best rugby when he interchanged with wood and can’t see why that shouldn’t happen again when it worked great for us .

IMO he's not as good Fifita, Tupou, Johnson, Lyn, Tangles, Woody, Arona, Miller, even old Brougyto name a few who are all more important to the team as I see it. I'm not even convinced he's a better FB than Hampshire who isn't really a FB. So no he's not one of our best, him being not good enough for Wigan is your problem, you shouldn't have signed him

Well, the 5, maybe 7, will include contracts not yet confirmed maybe. I'd expect them to be:
Hampshire
Green
Escare
Tangata
Westerman

The remaining two possibles could be a hooker, which could mean Tomkins (although I've always felt that his surname got him his slot), and then Tasi if rumours are true. That's your seven.

Thinking out loud, could Escare or Rocky play at hooker? They'd offer some zip out of dummy half.

Escape is ok ,did well under high ball last game, but do not want him to stay at the cost of losing Rocky his best years are in front of him

Whoever it is, I think we need to try to get the age of the players down a bit. Of course finances control things to some degree but I can't help but think the age of our squad makes injury more likely. No use having a nice looking car if it breaks down a lot. Maybe pepper the value high profile older player with some youth?

I know that Hampshire/Escare can slot in at acting half but, If we're short at #9, we should be looking for a hooker and not signing a FB.
Mind you, I'm not certain which of our current FB options are signed up for next season and there are of course rumours of Walker coming from London.
Therefore we should be looking for a bonafide hooker that can drop into the halves.

It’s not the age of the player that’s the problem for me it’s what beats inside them for me ,yes we don’t want it to be a care home for the has beens ,but also you can’t beat players with experience along side the young guns .Pauli and to some extent hirst are prime examples of younger players with all the attributes to make it big in the game but imo fell short at the top level for whatever reason.
I look at saints as the benchmark ,youth running alongside older heads who are battle hardened and it’s a proven winning formula.
