Reading between the lines...from Chester’s interview it looks like Hampshire will be the one to miss out to maybe have a sit and think about accepting the 3 year deal that’s been offered...

Sounds like he’s wanting a little more than we’ve offered...can’t fault him for that as it’s a short career...I really hope he does sign as he could be a huge player for us for many years if he does...in my opinion he’s not a player we should back down to though...there is only Fifita I would say we had to do everything in our power to keep, everyone else is replaceable...

Jowitt should keep his spot anyway as he’s been playing really well and just because he doesn’t have that instant burst of pace Rocky has, don’t be fooled into thinking he’s not as good an attacking full back because I think he is...5 tries and 3 assists against 4 tries and 6 assists from Hampshire in half the amount of games...and please stop spouting dribble about his defence....he’s improved massively in that regard, but at the end of the day a full backs tackling ability is right at the bottom of the importance of what he brings...

Huge game this as Chester says and a massive few weeks...a healthy win for us and with others playing each other it could give us a bit of breathing space and put us in a real healthy place...3rd in the league, squad looking healthier by the week with players coming back to go into two huge fixtures at magic and then in the cup...

It’s a string squad and I expect us to win with a bit to spare!

Safe journey down to all of you coming to Ealing - but do us a favour and leave the seat smashers who visited in Feb behind eh?

Already discussed, they are on notice. Apologies from the rest of us, all clubs have a bad element so I'm not to precious on these things but ours has become far to noticeable of late.

In my opinion this is why Hampshire s career has never really taken off . Either he or his agent persistently ask for more than clubs think he is worth. He is a Normanton lad but signed for Wigan because Trinity would not pay what he wanted. He nearly didn't have a club at all the season before last because he was asking for too much. Then he would only sign for 1 year because he was hoping for more. I know when he first came to Trinity we probably were not paying him as much as the rest of the team . If he is not careful he will be on the move constantly and never establish himself anywhere.

Well having just listened to Chester , he has confirmed Miller and Reynolds but would not be drawn who he would pick at FB. I then listened to end of interview regarding Hampshires contracts talks and I got the impression the club have offered what they think is a fair contract and as yet it has not been accepted. SO! I would suggest that they will stick with Jowett at FB as it appears they don't see Rockie accepting the deal and therefore Jowett is the long term full back solution.

TBH I'm a little underwhelmed. Rocky has been going very well for us but I sometimes get the impression he thinks he's a little better than he is.
We're his hometown club and I sincerely hope he signs a long contract with us, but if he doesn't the club will move on regardless.

It's an interesting one isn't it. Obviously I don't know anything about how much he's been offered but I imagine it's within Trinity's wage structure and thinking further ahead, Ryan's still got another 10 years playing hopefully. With that in mind and I understand that it's a short career and all that but sometimes you stop with a team because in the long run it offers you the best options and platform to showcase your skills - which I think stopping here atm would be for him. He's settled, he's wanted, it's his home Club, he knows he's guaranteed first team RL as long as his form keeps up, he's playing in the key positions of FB or HB. He's been here 2 years come the end of this season and signing on for another 3 years with us, could see him really become one of the better players in SL, that will eventually earn him bigger contracts in the future.

My thoughts also re thinking he's better than he is

I really like him at full back and hope he stays and plays at fb, he's had a great season at FB IMO

There has being talk on here that he sees his self as a stand off
I really don't see it

As a full back when he only has a couple of choices in front of him coming in to the line, his speed creativity and vision work really well, his decisions and choice of play are excellent
He's also excellent taking high balls

When he's playing at stand off he has lots of options available to him and I think he looks a bit out of his depth
I think the players struggle with knowing what he's going to do, that might be experience in fairness to rocky

No probs with him giving cover at stand off

My mate sums Hampshire up best. He says when he plays FB he does the job well. When he plays HB he thinks he can work miracles every time he has the ball but he can’t.

For now he’s more effective at FB. This obsession that he’s a HB does him no favours imo, he’s simply not good enough yet to demand that roll and we certainly don’t owe it him.

This next comment is not aimed just at him. With the exception of those who have come through the ranks players who play for us are here mostly because they failed to a greater or lesser degree at their previous clubs. Hampshire is one of those. To be fair he may already know this as we are just speculating but if he doesn’t he needs to realise we are the best chance he has to save what was a floundering career.

As Brian Clough used to say, ‘young man you play where I tell you to play and you’ll do it for the money I’m willing to pay you and you will do alright’.

One bright side should we lose on Sat is Leeds will be joint bottom, which nobody expected at this stage of the season.
