If only we could get the ball wide to Johnston at least twice in a game. Here we have 8 or 12 points going begging. So frustrating. Plus, Last season we had quite a few opportunist tries from Tom and BJB picking up loose ball from near our try-line but those don't seem to be as forthcoming this season. But then I blame the opposition for that.

I keep thinking about a post that was made last season, can't remember who it was. It was something along the lines of saying that the golden opportunity we had last season of finishing in the top 4 won't come every season for a team like Wakefield. Basically, if it's on a plate, do everything you can to take the opportunity with both hands.

The brain fart against Saints and the narrowly missed drop goal against Hull was that golden opportunity missed.

It'll be a lot harder to achieve top 4 this season.

What would a Cockney know about rugby league?

Re: Compared to last season : Mon Apr 09, 2018 2:16 pm
Start of the season I said top 8 and anything from there is a bonus. If we can learn to mange games better we'll get the wins but I think we'll grow through the season.

I don't get the finite reasoning on this.

We have lost 4 games against tough opposition and been close in each.
There is no evidence to say that will be the case in every game from now on.

We will have Fifita back along with Finn and Grix who are our key play makers and game managers.
The ground will be harder which suits us
We still have to play a lot of teams that will not be looking at the top 4.

For me, there is a lot of rugby to play before I decide we are not capable of making the 6 or for that matter even the 4. Sts didn't look that great half way through the season but managed to get to a drop goal away from the grand final.
When we are mathematically in the bottom 4 I'll accept it. And if we are, I'll still want Chester to be the man in charge.

Would you really put Finn and Grix straight back in? Grix I might be tempted to but Hampshire has offered more than Finn in the last two games.

No not at all. Hampshire gets the 7 shirt for me.
What I am saying is that we have room for changing the team and we have a long way to go. We are far from desperate.

Agree. We have wingers other teams would envy but we simply can't seem to get them away. Shame because they're matchwinners.

Re: Compared to last season : Mon Apr 09, 2018 6:55 pm
We are a couple of individual plays away from beating every team above us. I'm frustrated as anyone leading games and coming away with nothing. Our time will come!!

We are a top 8 side no questions, lets not forget those teams who generally finish in the top 4 are there most seasons and have the experience and budget we don't. Last season may not come around too often but we are only 9 games into a 30 game season, lets not get on the back of individual players and especially Chester (which I find a strange one considering how we've come on since he's been in charge). People need to look at the bigger picture, we have never been in this kind of position before so lets enjoy it and get behind the boys.

Roll on Saints! Wakie win you heard it here first...

I need to start putting some money on our opponents to win. Lost a small fortune backing against us last season but have refrained this year. Maybe £100 on a Saints win might push the fates a bit?
