Re: Takeover updates : Mon Jul 17, 2023 7:15 am
Whenever MC and JM go it will be with my best wishes. As far as I’m concerned they’ve dragged the club from near extinction into the 21st century.
Initially MC sorted out the finances and laterally JM the ground.
Ok, perhaps MC strayed into areas he would have been better advised not to, but that doesn’t detract for me what he has done in the past and for that I for one will be forever grateful.
I think a few posters on her forget that without MC putting his own house on the line they wouldn’t have a club to constantly criticise.

Seriously, I'm not bothered how long he's away for.

I only added that in, should it be delaying the completion of the deal.

That may well be the case, though they certainly were not in debt by the anount stated, four months prior to him taking over, unless about £1m debt appeared from under the carpet.

He was also on the board of directors from 2011, and was therefore party to some of the decisions made, such as reducing season tickets, giving away free tickets and outsourcing catering. Also, as all contracts were approved by the board, he could well have been involved in big signings in 2011, for Hickey and Tongia.

Stability for a while was brought, culminating in 2 top 5 finishes, but sadly, a legacy being left behind is an ageing team now, with poor results over a lengthy period of time. To continue this path only leads one way. This would undo all the good in earlier years.

This needs to happen soon for the good of the club, both in the long and short term.

Part of the reason the haters don't like Carter is that he's had to make tough decisions to keep things stable, and some of those have affected people personally.
If you lost your job at the club or your kid didn't get the contract you wanted or you were banned for having a flare then you probably don't like him and won't hear anything good.
It's arguable whether they were the right decisions but it was his responsibility to make them so he did.

Really do think your connected to the club in someway PT,

For what its worth i like MC hes made tough good decisions kept the club affloat in some bad and hard times and we have had some good times on the pitch too..think he be first to admit hes made mistakes esp in recruitment and retention but doesn't everyone make them.and im saying while at the moment im a little bit upset with the club although this could change.but ill look at carters time at the club one of the best in my time

Going forward im already worried about our future seen somthing that baffled a fair few people but it is what it is. I hoping mr ellis comes in and sorts some stuff out and brings some sucsess

I can assure you (for what its worth) that my only connection to the club is that I'm a supporter (apart from the £500 shareholder thing)
I have to pay for my ticket same as everyone else.

I think MC is quite an abrasive character and can see why some don't like him. But in my capacity as a supporter of nearly 50 years, I don't want him to be nice or be my friend. I want him to run the club as well as it can be and in all my time watching, he has been the best.
