Allowed?
The days of clubs being in control of who leaves and who stays disappeared way way back. Money talks. Do you think Salford will be "allowed" to keep all their star players if new investors don't emerge soon?
Might help some fans move on a bit now. He's been very visible kissing the Rovers badge for some time so an extension isn't surprising. I very much doubt that he's been sat there wanting Matt Ellis to offer him a wad to move back either.
Mrs EW and our daughter have rubbed this in a bit tonight. I can't deny it, I'm disappointed about this. Out of all the players "allowed to leave", as it was put, this is the one, I would have loved reversing, if I'm honest, more so than TJ.
I do get where Trojan is coming from, given, that as a club, who our CEO wasn't shy of stating we were spending well under the cap, which I dont deny, was happy to waste money on such Proctor, Gaskell and Lineham, but yet let him go so easily.
As for going for the money, we need to remember, we are all working under the same cap, so there probably won't be massive increases if a player goes from one club to another.
A certain CEO of another club said to me during my time at Wakefield, that there isnt usually much leeway in terms of salary increases when a player moves on, and is more about how the club is sold to the player.
We now need to move on, and support the players we have, and hopefully keep the better ones
