Hardaker & Hastings : Tue Sep 07, 2021 12:29 pm
As good as these two have been in recent games, and Hastings has been good all year, they are part of our attacking problem.

Zak made so many breaks, half breaks but missed so many opportunities to pass to some one in a better position and end up tackled. So much more could be made of the opportunities he creates, but he hardly ever passes the ball.

Hastings must be the most tackled half in the history of SL. Effort 100%, but how effective is it at unlocking a defence?

I know he's trying to make something happen, and or support play iand line speed is woeful, but it's purely 1 man rugby and so easy to defend against.

Re: Hardaker & Hastings : Tue Sep 07, 2021 3:05 pm
Hardaker as a defensive full back is probably as good as any, he is also a threat running the ball but his passing game is poor which means as a link player from FB he is in-effective, that is why I am not convinced about him as a centre - his winger gets nothing.

Hastings I cannot make my mind up about - sometimes he is very good but there times when he plays more liie a 9 (which is where I think he will end up and he could make a very good one) than a HB, the number of times he gets tackled on the last play and is then out of thie link is ridiculous, I get the idea he has no runners but as a HB he should be diictating the final tackle play which is why out attack falters so much. I do not think we have seen anywhere near his best at Wigan but I am still not sure just how good he is. And his long kicking is just awful - if the competition was to find the full back then he would be a top kicker, the only thing I can think is that it is a tactic as Tommy is as bad and Smith often does the same, whatever happened to turning the FB around or finding space?

Hardaker and the way he plays would be and is great, in a team that play a more off the cuff and expansive game than we do.

Hastings has no support, no dummy runners. He has no options, if he just caught and passed, he would get a used of not trying. It's the complete lack of options, and threat posed from other players that makes him easy to mark out of a game.

Hardaker really isn’t as good as Wigan fans make him out to be. He’s average. However, put Hastings behind a good pack like St Helens and he would be unplayable

Sammut was garbage and there’s nothing anyone will say that will change my mind.

Then god knows what you were watching because on the handful of occasions he started we actually looked like a team who could play rugby, the "points for" in those games prove that
