Be interesting to see if anyone other than the club will finance a flag of the new badge. Ancient & Loyal won’t be on the shirt next year I’m led to believe

Do you mean that the club is contemplating having one of those badges which has no reference to the town of the club.

At the time, the gang of four was running the club, there was a similar suggestion that the badge bearing the coat of arms of the old Wigan Borough be replaced by another badge, but it was rejected by the Directors and rightly so. Maurice Lindsay said that supporters should always be proud to wear a shirt with the "Ancient and Loyal" badge on it as it told others of our local pride in being part of Wigan.

Is nothing sacred these days?
