He’ll be on a wedge that’s for sure. His stock at the time of negotiating that deal was much higher than now. He’s come off the back of a really good 2017 and a decent 2018 with the Dragons and his form for England in the World Cup of 2017 had been excellent. Since that signing though it’s been a run of injury problems, struggling for club form and then along with everyone else, he had a really poor time of it for GB.

Once fully fit he’s a cracking player but the big money is a risk. It’s the risks clubs are having to take though. Our own marquee signings are both pretty big risks in different ways. One due to his career being on a downward curve for a couple of years now and the other because it’s clear that he won’t be around long.

Could actually help Warrington for the first game as they'll be forced to go with what they're used to. It'll take us a while to get up to speed with the new players. Particularly as Hastings got here late - I always thought it was bad news for us that he got picked for GB. I just hope they can settle in well enough to pick up wins early.

Christ mate I’ve seen you post some very poor trolls but that’s up there with the best. Is that bar that low you’re going back to round 6 last year?

it’s a shame Salford didn’t win the GF because we wouldn’t have seen our favourite saints troll until a few rounds into the season
