I think the rumours of a return to Aus is probably the major reason for quite a few fans criticising Burgess.

For me he was the best winger we have ever brought through our system in the modern era which was primarily based on his pace and confidence in using it.
Not sure about using him at centre unless his former pace has gone forever.

The fact that long range tries used to be his speciality and are now few and far between tells its own story. In fact, i cant remember the last time he scored a long range try or went around the outside of a player like he frequently used to do.

No it wasnt. This was definitely Burgess and it was a second row forward. It may of been last season as i think Eddie was commentating at the time.

I think you’re probably right with that. If he keeps his gob shut about a second crack at the NRL he may win back his doubters.

I’ve seen a few comments about his long range tries becoming a rarity - does that really matter as long as he scores/gets us in to a position where a try is scored off the back of it? Equally at the back end of last season he did go around players using his agility and pace.

He has certainly lost a yard of pace, I don’t think there’s any doubt there. I hope he comes back next season and proves all his doubters, of which I have been one, wrong.

But who from? Are you hearing it from Joe? Do you know him? I'm not having a pop but I feel at times people can hear something and the untruth spreads when in reality it might not be true no more than perhaps Gildart would like to play NRL rugby one day.
FWIW I'd bet if truthful; 99% of the Wigan players would like a chance/experience to play int he NRL.

Not sure why it bothers people so much when JB says that he wants another crack at the NRL? I wouldn't say his NRL stint was a failure, but I can see why he'd want to right a few wrongs.

I'd ask if our fans were really that insular, but I already know the answer - they are.

How many ex players have we seen 'fans' turn on because they've dared to leave to NRL or RU?

That’s like leaving your Mrs for some other woman, that relationship failing and you going back to your Mrs with your tail between your legs and saying “Well, I’m back with my Mrs, things didn’t work out with the other bird but one day I’d love the chance to give her one again”.

And that is why we are peeved off with Burgess.
