This notion that we’re ‘lucky to have finished 2nd & got to the semi’s of the playoffs’ really bugs me.
Firstly, you finish where you deserve to. We had a decent 2nd half to the reason so deserved to finish 2nd. However, part of that was that we deserved it more than a capitulating Hull & Wire.
Once you’re there, you’ve a job to do. If Salford had gone out the way we did, Salford fans may have accepted the claptrap if ‘we’ve had a good year & we did well until the last few weeks’. A club with our recent history in olayoffs, big games & finals, shouldn’t.
It was Lam - and his staffs - job to motivate & prepare the players with a game plan to at least compete. Lets be honest, the last 2 weeks we’ve not even competed. We’ve capitulated. The book for that stops with Lam and his staff.
Nice fella, great player in his day but he is out of his depth when the business end of the season comes and Wigan shouldn’t accept anything less than being involved at the business end. He’s looked lost in recent weeks, like a rabbit in the headlights with no clue how to get his team to even compete.
We can all cope with being beaten by a better team, narrowly in a tight fought game. The last 2 weeks have been anything but. Capitulation & embarrassment are the only words I can use for recent weeks. The blame lies with the coach.
