Morgan Smithies made 72 tackles last night.

I believe that is a Super League record - Bilko/anyone confirm?

He was also in double figures for carries too.

He is 18 years of age. Unreal.

You're correct. 66 against Bradford in 1998. The media are starting to report it.

Genuinely I'm blown away by an 18 year old, in his debut season, in his first play off match, making 72 tackles and double figures for carries. I respect the game that much I didn't think that was possible. That is nearly one a minute.

Makes it all the more staggering doesn’t it?

What a player and a prospect he is. Enjoy him at Wigan whilst it lasts, based on this form he’s shown this season it won’t be long before the NRL comes calling.

He really is an incredible talent. It’s not often you see a kid come in at 18 and you just know he’ll be an international and a very good one at that.

Enjoy him whilst we can.

I thought when i was watching that he was almost everywhere in defence. He has one hell of of engine on him, dare i say hes the most energetic player ive ever seen? It makes it even more impressive that he also seemed to make his fair share of carries.

All third man in tackles according to many opposition fans I’ve seen comment on it. He’s a kid from Yorkshire who’s broken a record that’s stood longer than he’s been alive but he plays for Wigan so he’ll get the usual pelters.

He deserves all the credit he is getting.
