As with all clubs the vast majority of their fans are brilliant and it’s only something I noticed during our most recent trip there in April 2018. There were no problems at the Nou Camp but I certainly noticed it during that game I mentioned and there was a football hooligan element to their support. I’m not saying Wire are blameless, ultimately we don’t know what’s gone on really but from what I’ve seen myself when going there, I wouldn’t be laying all the blame at Warrington's door yet.

Over the years, especially when they played at Wilderspool, I knew of many supporters who would never go to a game at Warrington.

And if some of the French supporters are now getting a bit bitter and twisted against English supporters, it perhaps could have something to do with our possible exit from the EU.

Warrington's problem is their track record.

Even if you're 100% innocent (which they clearly weren't), when 9 times out of 10 you've caused the trouble in the past, no one will give you the time of day.

When the RFL start dishing out the bans it will be interesting the length of them as three matches for a Wire player means he will miss the C Cup Final.
They may well issue two match bans with large fines instead. Not many players get banned for the Final.
We shall see!

Catalans have a problem IMO. There are groups of lads turning up to games and standing under that away section looking for trouble. I went down and stood down there during that April 2018 game and had to bite my lip because there were people there looking for trouble.

We went to the game in 2017 and I noticed a few Catalans lads who seemed to be there for a bit of trouble. It was down to our left inbetween the main body of Wigan fans and the other Wigan fans in that temporary type of stand down the side. There were only a few of them and it never developed into anything other than a bit of verbals.

I know Warrington fans have a bit of history but I can honestly say that after several visits to both Wilderspool and the HJ over the years, I have never witnessed any trouble. Each club will have a few idiots, maybe Warrington have a few more that surface from time to time. The lure of a few days away in France/Spain with the chance to drink all day will no doubt have attracted a few.

Chris Hill should definitely get a lengthy ban. He was supposedly one of the two captains on the field, and yet he was instigating trouble throughout that incident.

Just imagine - Hill banned and Austin injured. It'll goodbye Challenge Cup before they even get there.

Warrington Wolves will easily identify the instigators, they should be banned for life, no reprisals! Every game I have been to involving Warrington fans, be it home or away (even the Grand Final), I have experienced a level of hostility from their fans that is unrivaled. I get that most don't like Wigan, comes with the territory, but by God they actually raise it up a notch to a level that you know by giving it back would easily escalate to violence or projectiles. Always found it better to just laugh it off! Leaving the Halliwell Jones is the only occasion in rugby league when I have my lad with me that you actually feel a little uneasy.

Agreed - its the only away ground I’ve been to where I’ve ben verbally abused and called scum for some reason. I was just walking down the road with my much younger teenage sister I was taking to her first away game, lovely.

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions

Re: O/T Catalans V Wire! : Sun Aug 04, 2019 10:08 am
Not backing up the Wire fans - because they always look for trouble when we play them - but there has obviously been some provocation for them to start climbing up the stands. No excuse but let’s see what the investigation reveals.

Points deductions at least I’d say :)

As others have said, the HJ is the only away ground I go to where I feel uneasy walking out. The club has a real problem, and the majority of Warrington supporters quietly condone it by trying to push blame onto the Catalans fans, referee, and even bizarrely try to bring Wigan into it
