Before I start, I want to say this isn't another 'we deserve an update' type post. I know the club are bound by confidentiality, as is the player and UKAD. When a decision is made then we'll be told about it.

What I do want to talk about however is his impact on our cap space.

Under the assumption of he's innocent until proven guilty - I guess he's still got a live contract with us? If for example he has his hearing on Monday and gets cleared, then he should be able to return. As such I guess the club have had to keep his wage and space free.

Depending on how his hearing goes we could potentially either have cap space or Hamlin back next season. If he does leave and you add that to the talk about Escare moving on, we could have some decent money to play with for another addition.

Was he out of contract at the end of this season or did he have another year to go?

OOC next year. His wage will already have been allocated elsewhere in 2020.

Not sure if the club will have had to continue paying him in full this year whilst he's been suspended or whether they will be able to claim some money back if he's found guilty due to breach of contract.

I guess that wraps that debate up then.

Shame as I'd have loved to see him in our squad for next year.

I get the argument regarding cap space but for the first time i would say we are up to the cap. I would imagine that Tautai, Hamlin and possibly Escare already earmarked to be let go we have used those wages along with Williams and Sarge and a few of the fringe players to bring in the new guys. They only count from next season so the ins and outs probably balance out. I don't think we need anybody else. I am more than happy with the business we have done. If i had to be picky though i would let Sammut go (don't really see why he is here) and force Lockers to call it a day. Smithies is ready regardless of age and possibly bring in another loose forward with another hooker but i am more than happy with the squad should we not.

I doubt there'll even be an announcement - its not like he'd made any sort of positive impact in his short time here.

I must disagree with that statement he was a good contributor to the team he just took a wrong turn in his life hopefully he gets his head down and turns his life around

I thought he did really well here and he’s been a loss for us. I think he was homesick anyway and probably would’ve been gone at the end of this season but he would’ve been a handy player to have around the squad.

I liked Hamlins style and was a first choice bench pick for me.
