Going off the rails because you’re homesick, down in the dumps, depressed or whatever it may be happens. Is it an excuse for him? It probably is but these things happen in life all the time. I’m not saying he deserves any leeway but that is how it felt at the time. A lad taking risks, doing what he wanted etc because ultimately he didn’t really want to be here anyway.

He won’t be back anyway so it’s irrelevant.

I got told that Wane wanted to sign Watts but IL wouldn’t sanction the move.

Sounds unlikely given that he was willing to give a new contract to Hock after his ban, sign Hardaker after all his indiscretions, keep Bateman after that incident. We bought in Greenwood that season too who I'd guess would have commanded a similar salary at the time. Unless you mean he wouldn't sanction it for a reason other than disciplinary issues or salary?
