After recent games I'd rather have Williams back than keep Hastings.

I would rather have George Williams's understudy Sam Williams given recent performances. There are some cracking players not even warming the bench in The NRL.

Correct, especially at prop forward with where age, experience, injuries and size is concerned!

We now see Sam Powell playing out of his skin as well, So was the problem actually Shaun Wane, Was he really as good a coach as some make out, After all he inherited a successful side and didn't really make any massive changes, Has Waney stifled certain players careers

I think the answers to your questions are: the problem wasn't Waney, he saw the value in George and promoted him to the first team and he later went on to play for England; Waney was a good coach and his record supports that: five Grand Finals in six seasons; he did inherit a successful side but many coaches have done so and failed to deliver. By the way his first success only included seven players that played in the 2010 final under Maguire, only two played in 2016 and four took to the field in 2018, that makes me think that he built his own winning teams. Whatever any of us think about his style of rugby he was extremely successful. I would have him back in a heartbeat, I am convinced that we would have been far more competitive yesterday, even with the same 17.

Its a huge fallacy that Wane inherited a successful team and that was why he did well. Most of the young lads in the successful team under Madge were coached through the youth ranks by Wane anyway. Then most of the overseas or bought players we had under Madge left within 1-2 seasons of Wane joining anyway. People like Leuluai, RIchards, Carmont, Gleeson, Deacon, Finch etc had all left.
Wane made his own success.

I agree to an extent, but this is a get out of jail free card for Half backs sometimes.
Remember, Hastings won MoS last year, playing behind a pack that certainly wasn't on top every week.

Lets just have a look at the facts. Superleague half- backs
Hastings he's top for running metres, top for tackles made, second for tries scored, second for clean breaks and third for try assists.
SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

Hastings isn’t the issue in any way, shape or form much in the same way that Williams wasn’t for the seasons before that at times we struggled. We haven’t ever got close to sorting out a dominant front row. Even when we’ve played well and won things, we’ve had a workmanlike front row and used our outside backs to make ground. We’ve now got a developing front row with three experienced front rowers being paid good money for not a lot and throw in a coach out of his depth and things need sorting.

Would you say that he's been what you expected?

I think he's been good, but he's not the beating heart of the side that I expected him to be. I thought he'd be dictating play more with the way he moves the ball than what he does, but I guess they were just my expectations.

You were the one to point out how often he drops into DH or gets caught with the ball on the 4th. I'd probably be happier to see a reduction in those running yards if it meant him being more involved in our last play options.

I'd be more happy if our forwards got us on the front foot and then we could see the best of him
