I think its a case of us seeing him at his best (so far) before he went to the nrl and since he has come back hes been, generally, rubbish
Marshall on the other hand, we didnt have very high hopes for him but hes been amazingly good compared to expectations and shows the hunger to be better than his potential may have suggested
A hybrid between to the 2 would produce an excellent player. We can maybe look into it once we start the player implants...
That's not really true though is it?
People who know me know my Bias towards Joe, But I've always tried to be fair in my assessments.
As little as 18months ago due to injuries, form etc. Budgie was in the top 2 wingers of the 4 (along with Tom Davies IMO). Marshall was error prone and Manfredi, well we all know that situation.
But the truth is he was pretty good 2017 (in what was generally due to injuries across the whole squad a terrible one) and start of 18 was performing very well until the season ending injury at Widnes.
2019, he would have been one of the 2 starters for me, along with Tom Davies, but over the year Marshall's remarkable improvement (and I'll be the first to admit hes proved me wrong) has put pressure on him. Although Marshall isnt the finished product.
Tom Davies injury eased that pressure, but Manfredi return increases it again, bu which point Marshalls improvement put him ahead IMO of Budgie.
Top line he doesnt do enough work for the team IMO
Hes still got the finishing ability etc. But he needs to carry the ball 12/15times a game from defence, with a lot more effort.
With Gelling/Sarginson in the team he could get away with it a bit more, but without them he needs to step up.
"If" money wise we could keep all 3 I would
"If" we need to cut clothe and only carry 2 of the 3, then hes first misser as it stands.
