Yep, probably an aspect of management that few think about or appreciate.

The feel good factor if French extended his stay would be huge and would no doubt help ticket sales too.

I was in the Wakefield end, which then became the Saints end for the day yesterday.

There were also a good number of Leeds and Cas fans in stands.

Nearly all got up to applaud the French try yesterday.

We need players like him in SL regardless of who they play for.

Saw that. Sounds a nasty one. He’s still only 20, so I’d imagine he’ll give it time yet but I can’t help wonder what his expectations were when he went? First team regular within a year? Two? Three? He’d have 30+ appearances here now without a shadow of a doubt, so it’s tough to say it’s been a great move but there’s time yet.

Gildart to Leeds til the end of the year before going to the dolphins in 2023

Suprised we haven’t offered him Hardaker wages considering how our centre options are at the minute.

Agreed.

Just hypothetical, but it would point to two possible reasons:

1 - the club don't want Gildart back.

2 - we actually had to pay Zak to leave & the money isn't there. Would also potentially give a reason why we didn't seem in the running for Wardle. Like you said, centre is a weak area and that's two potential options we've not moved for.

Fingers crossed Halsall plays at the weekend and smashes it.

I get the feeling Wigan may have had to pay Hardker off but even so would Peet want him back given his shockingly poor form last season?

I think looking at 2021's form is a bit misleading. If we did that, then almost all the current side wouldn't be playing. You only need to look at Smith as the perfect example of that. Now, maybe there's attitude problems that might have factored into it.

Regardless of last season's form, Gildart is easily one of the best centres the club have produced in 20 years or so.
