I'm still torn on re-signing French tbh. I get it, he's a special talent, he's entertaining etc. But what impact will a new deal have on the whole team - especially our ability to recruit a centre.

I look back to when the club took the Burgess money and gave Hastings and French new deals, yeah it was positive as the majority wanted them to stay, but we desperately needed a prop but didn't have the cash to sign one.

I must admit I’m saying it’s a great bit of news on the presumption that a centre still comes in. If he stays and the rumours about Wardle were true, I think we can be absolutely chuffed with how we’re looking for next season. Can you afford Wardle and Cooper on Hardaker and Bibby’s money alone? Possibly not when you factor in upgrades to contracts but I do wonder if we have a bit of extra space this season from losing high earners like Hastings and Burgess.

I’m keeping everything crossed the couple of current rumours come off. If they did we’ll have a fine team and squad for 2023.
