When you look at the second-rowers over there he'd be up against; Kikau, Nani and all the rest,it's a big ask.

There does seem to be an assumption that all players go to the NRL for the money but I’m not sure that’s always the case.

The opportunity to live a different lifestyle and to gain the experience of testing yourself in the NRL must also be a factor.

The advantage of going when you are young also means you are likely to be free and single without having to relocate a family.

A 3 year deal with Huddersfield sounds pretty good to me.

The flipside may be that you've not developed fully as a player to give yourself the best chance of making it. You also have just reached adulthood so may not have the maturity or resilience to cope with being so far away from family/friends.

I suspect KPP will make it big over there and be an NRL player long term but he's definitely someone I'd hope we have 'first option' on (almost a Wigan trademark now).

The only one who seems to have broken the Wigan mould is Ryan Sutton. Regular performer, rave reviews and seems settled over there.

Yep, it’s ultimately down to personal choice but I find it strange when people criticise young players for having a go, especially when they have no idea of the contract details or the persons personal circumstances.

I think I remember Kris R saying that the club didn't even start negotiations with Sutton as he was so sure he wanted to go to Australia.
