Where has this lockers and Tommy leaving come from? Lockers is still a top player and injury wise has been okay this season and 3 weeks ago this forum was lauding Tommy and wanting him to extend his deal, a couple of bad performances and now he should retire?

Lockers has said that as long as he’s contributing something on the pitch he’ll keep playing. I don’t think there is any doubt he’s contributing on the pitch, albeit he’s used sparingly at times! I think next season could be a pivotal one with a new coach with a number of changes in personnel. We need to use next season to get ready for the inevitable day when he hangs up his boots.
I fear it’s Joel out, not replaced. Bateman out - Greenwood in
At a sportsmans dinner last November, Shaun Wane was guest speaker. He said then that there would be big changes for the 2019 season. "Sutton and Bateman are leaving, going to Australia" So I suspect Wigan then were already looking at Greenwood as his replacement but the Joel incident allowed them to bring him in early.
Wane was also asked about a current player if he had the ability to become a future Wigan coach.
His honest answer, "As a rugby coach, no problem, BUT only 30% of the job is coaching, the other 70% is dealing with all the other poop that goes with it"

aboveusonlypie... If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.

I wonder Wane has had enough of the "other 70%"?
I guess there comes a time when everyone has had enough of what they do.
Shaun Wane has copped a lot of flak in his time at Wigan, considering he's won so much.
He seems to have the ability to insense the opposition fans whatever he says, which I've always found a bit ridiculous. He's hardly a diplomat, but he's not controversial either - he's certainly no Alex Murphy. More difficult for him may have been the very obvious hatred from certain Wigan fans. We have been a dour team under Wane's guidance, and attendances have dropped away worryingly - though I sometimes wonder if that's more to do with austerity than playing style. But he hasn't deserved some of the attacks he's been subjected to online. It's almost as if a local lad with a strong Wigan accent will always be a pretender to some, regardless of what he achieves. (I'm sure those who dislike Wane would deny that, but that's the impression that's sometimes given).
All that said, we appear to be in a mess at present. Despite the positive start to the season, I can't help feeling that we've reverted to 2017 again with alarming speed. It doesn't say much for the character of the team when in reality they should be sending SW off with a big prize. But the coach must take ultimate reponsibility for this himself.
I can't dispute that it feels like the right time for a new broom.

Correct, I posted on here way back that Joe had agreed to join Wigan for 2019 as a Bateman replacement. I gather the deal was fast forwarded to cover Joel moving on.

Joe Greenwood is looking odds on to be with us next year, I believe as a direct replacement for JB. I was unaware of anything to do with Ryan but I guess those that know him personally know whats what. I would be upset to see him leave as he has a great deal of potential that we have not had the best of...would be a shame for him to kick on to his full potential whilst over in Australia.

Can you prove this?
To be fair to him, he called it back in early Feb.

Unless I'm misunderstanding something myself that is what he put back in Feb. Joe Greenwood direct relacement for JB.
