I'd lose Tautai, Clubb and Navarette. Couple with losing Hamlin, then the young forwards being released. That would give us scope to sign some decent props, which we are crying out for.
Williams going frees up money in itself, even though we lose the benefit of him being homegrown on the cap. It should still free up good money to sign quality.
We are fine in the backs and back row.
Agree with this. Back row is ok but very left sided and screaming out for a naturally right sided player like McMeeken. Back row is well down the list of priorities though. Props, half (or. Two) and hooker all needed before that.

Agree with this. The only issue I see is that Tautai is still contracted till the end of next season.

If a quality, big, right sided back rower becomes available we should be interested. Jones and McMeeken would certainly be welcome.

If quality players become available then you have to be in with a shout. It's a cliché, but you never know what's around the corner. At one point in time Wigan had HH, Hock, Joel, Hughes & Faz all competing for 2 spots, but in the space of a few seasons only Fax was left. I doubt many fans would have predicted that.
Whilst it might not be a priority, it could have a decent impact on the overall team too. McMeeken & Greenwood would give us a quality/massive 2nd row partnership. That might help lay a better platform for guys like Sammut or help Sarge in defence as well.

The trouble is releasing the young forwards doesn't make room under the salary cap and Williams only gains us £75k, where can you find a player of his quality for that money? If we need to release salary cap money then players listed in our top 25 need to go. For example, Forsyth, Byrne, Wells, Smithies etc. will not count against the cap this season.
Not sure how strong the links to Christian Welch are. But unfortunately, he is now facing a knee reconstruction. Limped off at half-time against Wests. Probably out for the season and it is the knee he injured before.

Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid. Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal. Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.
