Gildart what I saw in the first few games he did some nice stuff in attack but he seems to have been dropped for things that we could have all called on this forum (and so should have Madge) he’s undersized and his defence was always going to be a problem in a struggling side. I wouldn’t be overly exited if he signed for us as he was poor in his final season and players tend to come back for the worse for some reason but the market for non quota centres is very small and seemingly got smaller with the King/Wardle swap so Gildart may end up being the best option available to us.

I would rather go with Isa at centre than bring back Gildart, We really do need to steer clear of Ollie

Correct. Yesterdays news,

Here is is hammering on the bin celebrating a reserve team victory. At least he is the best paid reserve though.

My guess is that Tyrone Peachey playing at 6 for the Magpies is on far more money than Gildart ...........

How, in any way shape or form, is Isa a better option at centre than Gildart? Not knocking Isa there btw, but he's just not.

I'd understand it if the argument was Halsall who, whilst not being as good as either, has the potential to be.

Wigan should show that clip to every player who thinks about going and then show them the clips of the challenge cup celebrations.

It’s actually pretty sad that a good player like Gildart has got to a point of celebrating wins for a seconds team, whilst his mates at his own hometown team are having a great time.

I’ll say what I’ve said a few times on him coming back. The money would need to be right and the medical a thorough one. If we can get him on a really good deal for us, then that’s happy days. Good English centres aren’t in plentiful supply and he’s one of superleagues better ones on his day.

I just don't know how anyone thought he had a big future in the NRL.

They either haven't been watching the NRL or they haven't been watching Ollie, or more likely they haven't been watching either.

TBF, he's the only one playing in the reserves. George, Sutton, Bateman and Sam all played first team and were somewhat of a success.

More have been regulars than not but it shows what can happen. It’s happened before with Burgess, Rushton isn’t getting first team games (not that he was here but he would be now) and Sutton has done some time in the reserve grade. It’s not a problem for them all, as you point out, but we know Gildart would play every week here, Sutton would and I think Rushton would be by now. They’ve all backed themselves and thats to be admired in a lot of ways but the grass isn’t always greener.

Agree - my first instinct is to not even consider bringing him back, but in a salary capped sport with a general dearth of gettable talented centres, it's possible that that we might need to be a bit more pragmatic.

Having said that, I'd be amazed that he would take the sort of drop in wages that would make it the right deal for Wigan, especially when you can easily see at least one more SL team throwing more money at him.
