Aye Sau has been struggling with injury and is probably past his best and Pauli two names is terrible.

I’d love to see us bring in a mid season signing but it’s got to be the right one. Our most pressing concern is another prop forward.

Pauli has plenty of potential and is only 24 but I imagine he’s on a big wage and wouldn’t be worth a punt. You would imagine a coach would need an off season to whip him into shape.

Doesn’t look the type anyone could whip in to shape. Guess he couldn’t be worse than Tautai but he’s never impressed me in the slightest.

Got to hand it to Wakey in the main though. They’ve picked up some superb signings for not much outlay over these past few years.

He was seen as a big coup when Wakey signed him, the bits I saw of him in the NRL I thought he was going to smash it over here. Not sure if he’s stepped off the gas and thinks it’s an easy ride over here, or whether he wasn’t as good as I thought (maybe his size made him stick out).

Looks a bit Clubb like when I see him in that his knees look to be struggling to carry his size around. They’re two good examples of players who really need to get in better shape with teams now being allowed fewer interchanges.

Somebody like Fafita looks unfit to the make eye but he’s clearly not. I’d kill for a player like him but fair play to him for showing loyalty to Wakey.

The only reason Pauli is in SL is because he had a bad car crash causing severe damage to his leg.

It was deemed he would never fully recover and in truth sadly he hasn’t. Even when deemed fully fit his leg/hip is heavily strapped. Add to this his poor attitude towards diet and training and I don’t think he has much longer in the game as a full time pro.

Yet when Wakey signed Fafita everyone said he was the pudding, strange how these NRL signings work out sometimes.

Bringing in just one top prop forward to lead the way would get so much out of the rest of our pack. The better performing clubs all have a stand out prop who they build their pack around - Walmsley, Hill, Fifita, Watts etc.

Players like Bullock, Clubb and Clark would be terrific off the bench but probably shouldn't be starting. Flower and a top quality recruit at 8 and 10 would be ideal.

Agreed. NRL signings can be strange indeed.

Before coming over here David Fifita had only played 19 Senior NRL matches and was just the crap brother to Andrew, and he’s been brilliant.

Merrin came over as an Australian international and origin player and he’s been awful.

FPN came to us as an NRL and World Cup winner and was average on his very best days. (Admittedly I was excited to have signed him, shame how it turned out).

All that said, id absolutely love us to sign Maloney. I’ve been a big fan of his for years. Good kicker and good goal kicker as well as a top half. I think he’d still be the best half back in super league, even at 32.
