Drew 10-10........Wigan were VERY lucky to scrape a draw, however battered them 34-4 in the replay.
Lovely little stand, yes I was one of the 3,968 there that day. Will have to try and dig out some actual photo's of the game.
Me too! In fact a story for 1 or 2 of the older Generation!
If you remember the story about Murph & Sash coming out of the Bramley club 5 minutes before kick off and being lambasted by a Supporter for not being in the dressing rooms to "F***ing get em going!" ? I was stood next to him, it was my uncle!
PS
I'd also been in the Club 1/2 hour earlier and the strippers they had in the club were belting, especially for a 12 year old in the corner with a coke & a bag of crisp! No wonder Murph & Sash didn't come out early!
PPS
The guy who owned the Chippy in Abram called "Big Al's" up until about 10 years ago played that day for Bramley, apart from the Al bit I can't remember the rest of his name!

Good to see an almost identical shot taken from the other side of the stadium. It's obviously the same day as the photographer with red jacket, blue jeans & granddad cap is on both photos.

McAlpine Stadium, Huddersfield....(newly built, only three stands constructed).
Wigan demolished Wire 40-10. From where we were sat we could see there was quite a bit of trouble in the mixed stand behind the sticks.

Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS

I threw loads away when we moved as they weren't 'good' pics - some of these are just crowd shots and random moments but they are great and bring back great memories, I ABSOLUTLEY LOVE THEM!!!!!
Never again will I throw away photos - different now I guess with digital.

Hello everyone. Thank you for posting these pics which have inspired me to join the forum. I started watching Wigan in the 2nd division with the cup tie at saints the following season being my first away match which got me truly hooked. Great memories, just thinking although there was a good feeling at the time little did we know just how good the years ahead would be -the 10 all at Bramley with Graeme West's late try are just as vivid as the trophies. I managed to get hold of the saints game on video (David Stephenson's debut) but footage of the one in 1984 still eludes me - I rember my dad having the tries on video from Granada Reports. Thanks for posting the pics!
