course it does, if hes a brittish national he wont count, the only time it wont count if hes born outside of Europe

No it doesn’t. Hiring policies based on nationality would be discriminatory - this was the problem with the old quota system and why it was phased out.

Now, the idea is gaining a training “qualification” from a federated organisation (which is fine from a employment policy point of view). Irrespective of where you were born, if you spend 3 years at a SL academy, you are federation trained and clubs can have unlimited numbers of federation trained players. If you signed the Aussie academy at 17, all would be good. Similarly a Brit who grew up in Aus and then moved over wouldn’t be federation trained (however the RFL can issue dispensations which is the norm for that circumstance, though it would be interesting if it were ever challenged…)

I'm sure that, when the new rules, got brought in Gleeson found himself being on that non-fed list.

Pretty sure he counted on the non-fed quota at Cas, and that's something that can't be changed as far as I know.

Because he is non federation trained.

He definitely takes up a quota spot.

It has nothing to do with nationality or place of birth.

It is to do with the system in which you were first developed. I believe he was a Penrith junior.

Exactly, but the Pieman thinks not.

Interesting position we are now in, in relation to quota spots.

Hastings is obviously going and there are question marks over Tommy, Isa (who I believe has re-signed) and Clark.

We currently have 6 positioned filled with only Hastings confirmed leaving and 3 quota players coming in so next year as it stands we have from a confirmed point of view 8 quota players.

I’d say it’s likely both TL and Clark will retire/move on. I believe Isa is staying one more year so 1 spot left with us probably needing a centre and a half.
