Saw an article on ‘total rugby league’ this morning saying that Whitley has turned down UK interest to sign a new deal with the Dragons so guessing that rumour can be put to bed.

I thought FPN was a good signing, hardly missed a game or a tackle, you cant say he made no yards as none of our forwards did as they wanted a quick PTB which he did, he might have left under a cloud but to say he was poor is wrong for me

Whenever we lost a game, FPN, Tautai and Isa were always the scapegoats, the ones who rarely miss a game and always give 110% week in, week out.

Tautai was crap though, he’d lose the ball 4/5 times a game and wasn’t making any metres when he did keep hold of the ball. Isa is sometimes unfairly made scapegoat but he’s no better than average unfortunately and offers zero in attack

WARRIORS, BULLDOGS EYE OFF HASTINGS
Jackson Hastings has the next 24 hours to decide whether he will invoke a get-out clause and return to the NRL in 2021.
Wigan want to keep the halfback - who was on fire in Super League before COVID-19 -but will allow him to return home on compassionate grounds next season if he so desires.
Wigan need to know his plans ASAP, however so they can make contingency moves, and have told Hastings they would like an answer before June 30 in the UK.
The New Zealand Warriors are making a huge play for Hastings, but he wants to return to family in Sydney, with the Bulldogs the early favourites to get his signature.
"Games as big as a grand finals define individuals and clubs. Remember we are only renting these shirts, I had my time in Pat Richards shirt. Ellery and Faz had there time in Sean's, Hampo and Radders in Sam's. You have to make a mark in these shirts that's still there the day you hand it over to someone else. So be aware for 80 minutes you are not only playing but also writing history and creating a legacy. How many people get to actually write history, not many. A big stage demands big players, be inspired. You play for Wigan, now go do it. Good luck." - Martin Offiah, 2010.

Bateman officially announced to be leaving Canberra next year. I expect his transfer back to Wigan to be announced fairly soon...

I agree regarding Tautai he was a very frustrating player. He was great at Wakefield but when he came to us he lost his strike running ability (potentially due to the way he was used) and developed a terrible habit of dropping the ball. For every 1 good game he had we would have 4 or 5 poor to average ones.

Cannot agree with the Isa criticism though. For me he has been a great signing. Unsung hero of the team. Very dependable. Week in week out 7 out of 10 rating player.

Not a superstar but the kind of player you need in a team.

I was underwhelmed when we signed him but I think he had turned out to be a cracking player for us.

In regards the latest developments I’d say it is highly likely Bateman will be returning to Wigan which is great news.

I’d anticipate though next year we will be having to rely on a more unproven squad if he comes along with Marshall to replace Hastings.

I think we will see Locky, Hastings, Tommy, Gildart, Flower, Burgess, and Escare go with only Marshall, Bateman and hopefully a prop come in to replace them.
Unofficially the most boring poster on Cherry and White.

I do agree with you to an extent although I do believe a good workhorse is all he’ll ever be. He reminds me of Harrison Hansen a little bit, great defender, plays no matter what, tough and uncompromising, but lacks flair and has no ball skills. No doubt, we have Farrell in the other side that has both but Saints showed last year how important back rowers are - Taia and Peyroux were lethal and both could play but back it up with the tough stuff

Unless Bateman has a written agreement with Wigan that he will return to the club, supporters should not assume that he will re-sign for Wigan, especially when you remember that he lives in Yorkshire and also, if he is free from any written agreement or contract, open to offers from other clubs.
