Re: Wigan : Sun Mar 03, 2019 11:18 pm
Well that was unexpected!

Outside of the first 20 minutes, where we looked overawed, I thought we played really well - tackled well, ran hard, kicked intelligently, got some momentum behind us and played on the front foot. Agree with the earlier comments re Dixon, Abdull, Cunningham, and Lovell's tackling. And, of course, Walker's fantastic display at the back.

Shout outs to Battye for his hard work (uninterrupted opening 40!), Yates for his defensive work (2 fantastic consecutive tackles on our own line late in the first half), and young Butler coming off the bench and really getting stuck in. It's not often you see someone making his SL debut who so gleefully and successfully gets into Sean O'Loughlin's face. Loved it!

Was Ian Lenagan in attendence?

And I am over the moon at the result, was not expecting that!! We need 7 more wins to secure consolidation.

Have to say that's poor for the visit of the pies. 2,013 was the gate at the Hive in 2014......I really thought 3k would have been hit as it would be their first visit to another new ground.....and given they and Saints are the biggest drawcards, it points to us having to work really hard to get locals in and not rely on friggin' visiting sides.
Still...FANTASTIC result 8) :D :ROCKS:

Oh my god Gutters, you are so exhausting. You are exactly like a Sr Stakeholder of a project I am on where he really does'nt want the project to go live, and just sends us into the weeds at every opportunity.

1. did you work on the Leave campaign during the EU referendum?
2. Are you the Sr Stakeholder I am referring to on a project in Sydney?
3. Can you just go back to doing caption competitions on this forum again? you used to be all about the music then.

Man!!!! you have become boring.

The really good thing with the Dixon try was Cunningham providing the block for the chasing wigan player.

I remember thinking it was a pretty lame effort from the Wigan player who was potentially in a position to get across and cover tackle Dixon. Having watched the highlights I see that was Sammut.

I dont want to take this thread down the referee route, like so many previously have done. But i feel compelled to say something - i am not saying he was bent, taking bribes, a born and bred Wiganer or.............. what he was, in the first 30 minutes was inept to a point that i was on the verge of a hear attack! The succesion of penalties against us, not for a single offence but for multiple indiscretions. Yet when Wigan, as far as i could see, did the same thing - every protest was waved away. He very nearly ruined the day.

He did improve, and hence the game improved, last 10 or so minutes of first half and second half were much better, and so was the game. I accept we were our own worst enemies in the first 30mins, we kept dropping the ball, trying impossible offloads etc, but he compounded the situation, but we WON!!!!

Re: Wigan : Mon Mar 04, 2019 4:59 pm
All the London penalties were for offences at the ptb, either slowing it down or hands on the ball. When did the penalties stop? When they got put on a team warning! So was that the ref no longer looking for the offences or London stopped offending! Points to me a team that were pushing the boundaries in a certain area, not the ref being poor!
For what it’s worth wigan gave away more penalties than us, by quite a lot, does that mean the ref was biased towards us? So how the ref compounded the situation am not sure..
London got stung by cas at the ptb, they were trying to slow it down, mostly successfully through good play, occasionally not!
