And if you think that’s there’s any sense in planning a future around the seventh oldest man in Superleague, well...

If everything revolves around him, how have we managed to beat Catalan and Leeds without him? He stifles as much play as he creates these days, the results don't lie. I never mentioned Gaskell or Rankin, Gaskell is number one priority to get rid of for me, ahead of Brough and i agree he offers nothing for the money he is on. You are looking at Brough and only seeing the magic displays, where he controls the game , there are just as many nightmare displays now where he gets wound up and does something that costs the team. Best to get rid sooner rather than later and begin the rebuilding process.

I disagree completely. We can win without Brough, we have shown this in the last few games. Indeed our upturn in fortunes occurred without Brough on the pitch. He is as often a gamewinner as a gameloser, he has lost us games this season by being relied upon, and shooting his mouth off, ending up in the sin bin and costing his team dear. So , his contribution to games aside, which i would argue has been 'balanced' this year (good performances where he has controlled games with kicking offset by bad performances where his ill discipline has cost us) he is now a bad value for money. You have to remember that when you base your game around a player and then he gets sent off/loses his cool this has a MASSIVE effect on the gameplan.

Brough is quite simply poor value for money. He is unreliable and losing his skills, and i would much rather base our gameplan around younger and more reliable players even if they may not be as good as Brough when he is at his best, and stays on the pitch, which these days is pretty rare. He has served what 6 games in suspensions so far this year, and been sin binned at least twice i remember at crucial times in games.

I would much rather risk Hastings, who may well prove to be a great singing, than keep Brough a known quantity who is ageing and has probably the worst discipline this season in superleague.

I do wonder what you lot watch sometimes.
Our problem has been brough is all we’ve had- everything has revolved around him because frankly we’ve had no one else with any kind of handle on the game or game management.
No he isn’t the player he was- but to suggest he offers nothing- or less than Rankin, Gaskell Russell, turner, is just bonkers.
(And two of those are earning probably similar next year)
if you can’t see what a positive it would be to take that pressure off his shoulders and have people alongside him rather than around him then perhaps you should stop watching.

Just who do you think you are ??? To tell anybody that doesn’t agree with your views to ‘stop watching’ ??

We all pay our ‘buck’ and as such have a right to our own opinions and that includes you, by joining this site you want to debate with our fans and those of other clubs but to tell someone high handedly to stop watching smacks of a petulant child not getting its own way.

In ‘my opinion’ the jury is out on Danny Brough as he’s played eleven games this season not too many more than our injury cases and has actually been half decent in most of the ones he has played but the sin binning’s in games does mean he can also be a liability which has to be taken into account.

Jackson Hastings has not signed as yet or may not do so. Thus the half back issue is Russell or Brough, well my opinion is if we win at Hull KR, which would be the third since he has been suspended, Russell would retain his place as that’s how it should be, unless Brough is brought back to manage Russells time due to his youth but by no means should he be just brought back because he’s ‘Danny Brough’

What example does that show to any other young lads brought in and doing a great job for the team ?

As for wages the club and players/agents negotiate so you could say each player is being paid what he deserves/negotiated and in a game where players can rapidly improve or decline then how much a player is being paid is not always an accurate reflection of his true value to the team at the current time or indeed in the future.

You will do well to get rid of Gaskell, he is paid way over the odds and no other club will take on his wages and who can blame him for not accepting a reduced contract?

Get ready to be disappointed- coaches don’t agree. Our last three Coaches have all waxed lyrical about what brough brings to our side- not just on the pitch but on the training field.
Russell will play “half a dozen or so games” next year according to Woolford - he’s not physically ready to play SL week in week out regardless of his talent.
What does that say to the young lad? If Russell is smart he will recognise that it’s in his best interests and his future career as a player.

Oh I didn’t tell you to to stop watching-it was a suggestion- hence the word “perhaps”
You clearly don’t ageee with the way coaches view brough.

Personally can’t wait to see him back.

Well hopefully without another suspension or sin binning this season as he’s only any good to the team when he’s on the field and he has been absent far too often in recent times and not because of injury.

My opinion of Brough is quite a simple one, if Woolford can get his head right fine I’m happy to see him play but would play Russell every time we get James Child as he’s Danny Brough’s ‘red rag’ unless we do sign Hastings.

You argue with yourself sometimes lol!!

It's not that long ago you were slagging Brough off something chronic!

I’d be happy with him coaching.

You seem to be wilfully missing the point. Brough is too old for the club to be including him at the centre of anything but the most short term plans. He’s on the way out, that’s not a criticism of him, it’s just the bald facts. Every single thing you have said would be spot on if Brough was 27 years old.

Any coach who comes in, looks at that squad and doesn’t think “We’re going to need to replace Danny Brough very soon” is a fool. And if they’re not saying that in public it’s because they’re managing the squads expectations.

Brough and Hastings just wouldn’t work Brough is a control freak he has to be the big fish in a small pond everything has to run through him he wouldn’t like Hastings controlling things. That’s why he’s never signed for a bigger club. We’d be much better going Hastings and Russell who could hopefully form a great combination over the next couple of years and don’t give me that garbage that Russell’s not physically mature enough to play week in week out he’s no different to Richardson at saints that’s the difference between us and the top teams they play a kid he has a good game he stays in the team we hide behind he’s not ready to play every week just so we keep the senior players happy
