Why not, we do with Australians and give them contracts well into their retirement rather than bringing through academy talent.

i wouldnt say mellor is international class, not enough size for me in the second row

I’ve heard a rumour from an accurate source that Mellor asked for the same money as Roberts and was told no.

Mellor is twice the player that Roberts is now but it seems though that we have a lot of cap tied up in Roberts which appears to have been a huge error.

ha roberts is stealing a wage at giants.... got that big contract then stopped progressing

like i have said, we cant keep them all due to salary cap

From listening to Thewlis yesterday it sounds like Mellor will definitely not be at the Giants next year.

That’s a shame, but it won’t break us.
I think keeping wardle next season is more important.
Chance for Hewitt to step up and there’s Ross whitmore in the wings to go to LF.
Have Murphy, Lawrence, Ferguson, wardle, Roberts, Hewitt, taai who can all play second row.
Personally would like to see taai and wardle as our second rows next season.
