A half-time apology to Cokey. Sitting here one eye on Flashscore, one eye preparing this weekend's spreadsheet, Bongser realises that he didn't add on your, much celebrated, WWB of 25 points in last week's standings. Your score should have read, not 298, but 323. That should have seen you above Bongser and level with WLJ. A thousand apologies.

Go Leythe in the second half!!

PS Glad you made it, VL. :thumb:

Down in the states at my trailer with dodgy mobile coverage. Had a hell of a time following the game but over the moon about the result. Now if I could just predict a score or two this weekend my world would be rosy :thumb:

MASSIVE

Up into third, at least until tomorrow. Makes good viewing, though. :thumb:

Well done to the lads. That should set the forum buzzing and shut the traps of Valvehunter, Canoeman et alia.

Alright, the dares featured unlikely scorelines. As it happened they were all rendered impossible ten minutes into the second half of this weekend’s first fixture. Said fixture finished:

Toulouse 16 – 18 Leythe. Boy, what a hard fought win and what a great result – feels like two extra points.

The Agincourt dare turned out not to be a bad one as the match was relatively low scoring and, as it happened, Bongser was closest to the correct margin – only one out – for which he will (according to the rules) award himself jack.

Seven of The Nine called it. Bongser takes great pleasure in this win, but no schadenfreude in Wanderer (who, as a non-Leyther, may predict with his noggin rather than his thumper) wrongly calling a Toulouse win. Bongser does take exception to Leythers predicting Leythe losses.

According to Wiki, there were no Anglo-French battles in 1618. In fact, barring some Kepler shiite that would only be interesting to those on the astronomy thread on the Virtual Terrace, the only thing of note was Sir Walter Raleigh (contemporaneously pronounced “Rawley” – ring any bells?) losing his head to a chippy-chippy chopper on a big black block. The crime? Treason!

Who lost his monochrome head this week? Charles (the first) Caroli. How VERY dare he?

Onwards! Sunday saw the expected flat track bullying from both Fev & Broncos – clean sweeps for those games. Pokemon still on for seven of The Fellowship. :thumb:

8/9 called a ‘Fax win. Atomic called a Swinny winny, maybe more in hope than expectation. A hope that most Leigh fans were secretly harbouring too. But Tommers pulled it out of the fire by foreseeing a Sheffield win at Batley. Atomic recouped his lost points and “The Steelers” stole Bongser’s line that all but the top three got pokemons! The home team are Bat-sards! Hope you lot are as accommodating in three weeks’ time.

So, all that could decide the WWB was the BBQ.

Bongser chose to hedge his bets. Had he not, and merely extrapolated from his Agincourt prediction, he might have been this week’s runaway winner. Hindsight is a great thing. Serves him right – the to$$er!

Only three got any BBQ points, Zools & Cokey two apiece (Cokey just missing out on a second WWB in a row), but Atomic within three got five points and this week’s wreath.

STANDINGS (a shift to the light side):

Atomic on 471 (hunting down Lara)
Charlie on 451
Wanderer on 405 (raise your bat, Sirrah)
Pubbers on 385
Zools on 359
Cokey on 336 (making that late surge that he promised so many rounds ago)
WLJ on 334
Bongser on 332
Van L on 245
Diggers on 114
LX111 on 98
SBS on 22

The road movie moves on for Leigh with a trip to Dewsbury. Two “must wins” give way to a “should win” that we must win as well, especially with a tough trip to Canada the following week.

Here are the puntables:

Saturday:

Trannies XX-YY Barrow

Sunday:

London XX – YY Swinton
Rochdale XX – YY Toulouse
Sheffield XX – Featherstone
Dewsbury X – YYY Leigh
Halifax XX – YY Batley

Okay, keeping it “seemples” this week (-ish). Do you remember a programme called “It’s a Knockout” that featured one Eddie Waring (formerly of Eddie’s ‘ouse at ‘ilton Park) and another fellah that we no longer speak of? Yes? Do you further recollect the teams playing their Joker? That’s the basis of this weeks’ BBQ. (Thanks to PW who set something similar on the Bulls’ Pred League a coupl’a rounds ago).

Pick the match this week on which you are most confident of your prediction and "Play your Joker". The points that you garner will be tripled:

Correct winner - not 2 but 6 points;
Correct winner & margin - not 5 but 15 points;
Correct winner & exact score - not 25 but 75 (SEVENTY-FIVE) points.

Just type “Joker played” after that prediction.

Bongser is offering another option as well, you lucky, lucky punters: The Jokermon. If you choose not to name one of the individual games but are confident of all your winners, your “rare as hen’s teeth (one result generally upsets the applecart each round)” pokemon award will be tripled from 25 to 75.
Just type the neologism “Jokermon” at the end of your preds.

The choice, my dear brothers, is yours. As ever, good luck! :thumb:

Seemples!
