2015 - major missed opportunity, 2016 - stronger teams = harder task (no problem there then), 2017 - OMG What now!!!

Doesn't there have to be a minimum of 48 hours between games. Can't see that we have complained though

Well surprisingly the unfit Ryan Duffy had two good games.

I still think he should be offered a contract.

Decent squad player, but never going to be first choice. His fitness is nowhere near upto the standard we should be aiming for. If anybody watches the highlights of the leeds game, see who is at fault for Leeds' final try. Ryan Duffy had his back turned and wasn't back in the line. Has a decent offload, takes the ball up hard, but gets put on his back more often than not and can't do the minutes.

The Watcher has been informed that Beaumont & Rowley have disagreed on the future of Duffy. The board member wants to offer the prop a contract that will keep him at Leigh, whilst the coach obviously doesnt rate the young pie eater. Other clubs are interested in taking the big forward, Batley & Whitehaven to name just 2 of them but with the Leigh based agent Mr D Peet now representing Ryan The Watcher hopes he will remain at Leigh & develop into a true Leigh great.

If that's the case then Duffy won't be staying. Beaumont has said many times that Rowley has complete and total control over the squad, who he signs & how they play. I would have quite liked Duffy to stay but we do now have better options for forwards & it wouldn't be fair to keep him and not play him when he’s a very good Championship level player; plus I'm sure Rowley would like to spend the money on someone else that will be playing.

I couldn't agree more, and very well put. If that's the case then yes Ryan wouldn't be staying, a great shame as i think he has done everything he has been asked to, to the best of his ability but none of us knows the team dynamic next season except of course Paul. Nothing is guaranteed next season but i'm sure Paul has an idea of what type of play and players he wants, I for one am deffo looking forward to seeing what style of play and team we have in 2015.

IRN-BRU - THE NEW TASTE OF RUGBY LEAGUE !!

Re: duffy : Wed Sep 24, 2014 8:24 am
I was also of the opinion that there where better front row options available than Ryan for next season but I will be perfectly honest I have changed my mind. I am now of the conclusion that if it was all down to a straight choice between Ryan and Martin Aspinall, then personally I would have chosen to give Ryan a full time contract where I feel he would have been in an ideal environment for him to develop as a player further.

That is my view.

Its a tough call this one. Looking at a set of props that will Include Wilkes, Hopkins, Walker, Acton, Spencer, Emmit, Bullock, Bate, Barlow - we play 3 props with one at 13 - how many games would he get ?

He is still a baby in prop terms and will benefit from a full year at prop in the championship, could we do a deal which involved a season loan

I feel we are a back rower, centre and half back/utility light at present - but have the unknown of Hankinson and Tracey after a full time pre season

Who'd be a coach eh

Would be a good option but not sure the finances or even the players aspirations will be met by that.
Personally I hope that can be arranged as for me Duffy has lots of potential.
