In that scenario it would be justified frothing though wouldn’t it?

Depends what the fixtures are and whether there's effort and green shoots. I think we need to be assessing progress on performance more than results.
Re: Powell OUT : Sat Aug 13, 2022 12:27 pm
Performance and results surely. Six defeats but with lots of effort would surely be unacceptable.

Pretty much sums up why I’m still on Powell’s side. I’m sure he’s made errors too and is learning new things about coaching and also himself. For those who blame him for turning things upside down, it was the club who recognised this needed to be done and tasked the coach with that based on his history. He admits it’s never been so hard to change a mindset of a team.

If we had say 3 'easier' games while we were getting the combos working and lost them, but saw improvement throughout those 3, and the last of those 3 was Hull for example. Then 3 tough games against established opposition, would you be complaining if we lost 6?

After Easter, yes, we need to be winning. Before, we need to give the side chance to develop and not moan.

To paraphrase T Smith and a number of other coaches; ' focus on performance and the results will eventually take care of themselves'.
Re: Powell OUT : Sat Aug 13, 2022 12:43 pm
Fair point but I want to be seeing a solid defensive line from game one. I see that same panicky, retreating defensive line and I’ll know we’ll be in for a loooong season.

Let’s just face it , if Cozy hadn’t done what he’s done the charge would have been Powell out for not doing what he’d been brought in to do

It's not just the players he has to convince. Its the fans. And he hasn't convinced the fans at all. He thinks because we are "safe" that its going to be all roses from now. Not at all.

Daryl powells highlights fo 2022 include.
> Changing the mindset of players to do the following.
● 15 times we have conceded 30+ points in a game.
● Atleast 6 capitulations
● One of. If not the best defensive record to the worst.

And daryl Powell himself has done the following to his career.
● P!$$!^g off 3 quarters of the locker room.
● A questionable coaching history (when you look at his castleford coaching career. Its not actually all that impressive. Steve price and tony smith all beat him with essentially a squad of "bad apples")
● His win ratio is 30% as warrington coach.

I'm sure there is more.

What the interview proves is whatever the club saw as a problem that needed solving, they chose someone who did not have the experience and skill set to resolve it. By his own admission, he has struggled.
He says he has learnt a lot this season, hopefully he has, but the cost of that education has been one of the worst seasons we have had to endure playing wise but also financial cost to the club.
Can he now deliver a consistently winning team? The jury is out but the club and supporters need a return on the financial and emotional investment made.

Could you tell us what Powell should have (realistically) achieved at Cas, that he didn't actually do & why what he did actually achieve wasn't that impressive?
