I think we need to give a lot of credit to Mata'utia. Both tries came from beautifully timed passes. He has been a good signing. Widdop (one game of course) looked so secure and totally involved in both scores. Holmes was pretty active too.
Widdop, Ashton, Mata'utia, Wrench, Williams, D Clark, Holmes & Davis stood out for me on first watch.

Whoa! Summer and Swallows my man. Matutia and Holmes were both excellent last night and it's about time too - more of the same for the rest of the season please.

The sad aspect of last night is it again reinforces what we know- we had Davis and clark off the bench they had that wrecking ball offload machine. Imagine if we'd been able to unleash similar firepower? Victory would have been assured.

Yep. I nearly completed my very optimistic summing up with ... "but the usual problems of not making yards compared with the opposition finally beat us" but deleted it prior to pressing the SUBMIT button. I agree with you. But we've had it tough & I didn't think I would state the "flaming obvious" again.

I agree, far more positives than negatives and genuine cause for optimism for once.

Matautia was man of the match v cas and was superb v Huddersfield. He was great last night. The 'about time' comment can be aimed at Holmes(who wasn't even that good!)but not peanut.

Oh boy, where's Lefty? I hope so, especially if we can find the second coming of Andy Greg to provide the service.

Name dropper!!!!

I can't comment, as I didn't see the match due to a pooh round of golf, followed by an excellent curry (Spicy Ginger - Latchford village 5 courses £11).

Sadly, second comings to the quality of Roberts and Gregory are rarer than rocking horse dung.

I’m still puzzling over Welsby as Sky MoM. Any clues as to what he did to deserve it?

Blimey did Makinson not get it? Surely he deserved it, Widdop a close runner up! Welsby?? Baffling.

i’m also puzzled about why they felt that Makinson getting across to Wrench was so praiseworthy. Wrench had to catch the ball, evade the tackler and the beat Lomax which lost him a lot of momentum. Ashton getting back and tackling the oil tanker that is Hurrell was a far better effort in my view.
