It's not really a fair comparison when Huddersfield don't have field and French! The left edge faced a far, far bigger test against Wigan, I don't think that wrench for King would have gone any way towards solving that problem personally.

And St Helens left edge defence had exactly the same problem. And Farrell ran through their middle defence too. Go figure.

I am with you on this. I think we get a bit simplistic with "who is responsible for opposition tries". It is not always the man lying on the floor clutching air that is the problem. Powell and his team will, believe it or not, have a defence system. The will study each try several times over. They are probably better placed to decide who got it wrong or pulled out of position. Poor defence is not always about poor tackling even though that is the normal shout from the terraces. Having said that I would tend not to single players out publicly as it rarely helps anyone.

Yeah fair enough. It's not always the man lying on the floor, but sometimes it is the man that has shot out of the line or not moved out when needed.

Anyway we have conceded ~23.5 points a game across 11 games this season. Not all down to Dean's kicking. Powell should be concentrating on that and not bagging a young lad who is one of our better performers.

I hope Powell, and his team, will sort the defence system soon.

Absolutely. Dean's try was a good one as well. Wigan, of course, would point to poor defence but I reckon credit ought to be given where it is due.

Exactly, dropped into the side against top opposition he had the confidence to take on the line and executed perfectly. He needs encouragement not public shaming. I don't know what was going through Powell's mind in that interview, I really don't. I suspect he is feeling the pressure as I bet this is not how he thought it would work out 4 months in.
