Doesn’t want to change anything in his first season, well that’s a disappointing statement.

I was hoping for a change, but then we don’t know whether the on-field leadership will be different under Powell’s guidance. One of my biggest gripes with Hughes was his ability to influence a game with stupid indiscipline when things were balanced on a knife-edge. Hardly great leadership. However, he could be a completely different player under Powell. Let’s hope so.

Fair comment, I am basing mine on previous times he as held it. Maybe Powell as given him new directives

There isn't an obvious alternative.

The lack of leadership is going to be a limiting factor on our success.

I expect this point will be one we return to at various points in the season.

Completely agree. Not really happy about the decision but we suffer from a lack of leaders.

I don’t have a paid subscription the the Warrington Guardian, although am considering it. I see the article also mentions injuries - has anybody read this and can update us?!

Hughes has had surgery on a wrist problem, hopefully back for the first game, but possibility of missing round 1/2.

Philbin back training following an op to remove his appendix, but otherwise (excluding Minikin & Harrison) squad is healthy.

I wouldn't even have Hughes in my first choice 13. As for no alternative leaders, widdop and cooper are blatantly captain material.
