Strange how we see things differently. I put Wigan's main strength is their handling skills and pace. Very good defence too. Backs are best in League but their pack isn't.

Wigan's advantage over us had nothing to do with the quality of their pack - player for player it's no better than ours.

The advantages they do have are

Unshakeable belief in their ability to win
Ruthless, tenacious defence
Perfect play off football game management
Ability to get under the oppositions skin
Using ALL their resources and squad effectively

At one stage this season we had similar belief but it evaporated in the week of the Salford SL and CC games.

That is a pretty perfect summing up, from my time watching them as an adult from 1985 I don't think they have wavered from that. One of the pundits last night also stated that from Ellery Stanley time through to day they have had a constant top drawer player at loose.

We have had great things too but we can never seem to string things together through the ages and that's the problem.

Wigan produces so many rugby players compared to us and it has for years. There best players at the moment, however, are bought in. When they get injuries though, they cope so well. The results, over time, of Wigan Colts v Wire Colts would tell a tale.

Sadly yes, Basil the Bully!!!!!

Just read Radlinskis and Terry Newtons books.
SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row
