Some great memories there of my days in England as an 8/9 year old starting my rugby league watching back in the mid-40's. Following that tour a few of the Aus.Test players came to play in England in 1947.
Pat Devery and Lionel Cooper joined Huddersfield, Arthur Clues went to Leeds and George Watt to Hull.
Other Aus. players soon followed.
Brian Bevan had already come to Warrington and in the following couple of years was joined by Harry Bath. At Hull Watt was joined by Bruce Ryan and Duncan Jackson. I may have missed a couple of others but some really great players there.
A sad omission from that GB 1946 squad was Welshman Roy Francis, who deserved his place at centre but was not selected due to the 'White Australia' racial policy at that time. It was thought that the inclusion of a Black player could lead to problems. Later Roy became the first British coach in Aus.RL when he went to coach North Sydney in 1977.
