I do think your (collectively) feelings towards Agar are misdirected in a way. For sentimental reasons Tony Smith is above criticism as he brought you your first piece of silverware in a while. When really, team should have delivered a trophy under Cullen but for (with hindsight, viewed from the outside, poor coaching).
Agar carries the can for Smith losing the dressing room. People who’ve worked under/with Agar have always been positive about him. He can’t be as bad as a lot of fans believe.
He comes across as very knowledgeable and likeable in the media. Also recently had a few years working in the NRL. He must have something about him. Maybe he’s not had the opportunities Smith’s had in his coaching career.
As a Leeds fan, I’d still prefer a head coach with a history of silverware etc, but I’m coming around to Agar.
