Jan 76. Wires 3 - 0 Team A

Nov 79 Wires 0 - 1 Team B

Mar 80. Wires 2 - 2 Team C

Oct 90. Wires 2 - 3 Team D

Also a couple of always

Mar 90. Team E 0 - 0 Wires

I believe this results from the club cosying up to Lady Greenall. She was a Conservative, hence the blue and her favourite flowers were primroses. Alas, in spite of all of this kowtowing she never did sponsor the club.

B is Workington
D is Hull. Quite a good game, actually. A couple of disallowed tries, some good play. It was a Saturday afternoon game, on Granada, for Rugby League Live

Weren't Greenall's originally a St Helens family? Might explain it.

There was a Greenalls brewery on the corner of Hardshaw street and Church street.
All the old bus stops were on Hardshaw street by the brewery.
