None of the Sky commentators or pundits break any pots for me. Indeed throughout my life I don't think there has been a great commentator or pundit on Rugby League. It started with that goomer, Eddie Waring, and if anything it has got worse. But the worse by far is Phil Clark. Apart from any perceived bias he may have, I don't understand a word of most of what he says and the bit I understand is gibberish. My old fellow used to watch games on the BBC with the sound volume turned right down. Methinks a wise move.

I got told that the commentators on Friday were calling HKR rotten for the tackling tactics of a third man coming in against Wigan, can anyone confirm this? Also is it not a bit ironic considering the same tactics used over the years!

I like the current BBC setup to be honest. I was never a fan of Davies as an RL commentator, but I think introducing Noble has improved the commentary massivly.

No they didn't, but someone did mention that Wigan's holding down tactics and general spoiling at the ptb were affecting the game.

I cannot remember who but there was definitely mention by the pundits of the tactic of two players holding someone up in the tackle whilst a third came steaming in. A tactic which caused Carvell a serious injury at Saints a couple of years ago. I am not one for two much sanitising but I think that tackle should be banned.

I was talking about the Eddie Waring days actually but I have not really rated any of his successors although Davies usually accurately notices and interprets what is happening on the pitch unlike Stevo who I often think is watching a different match to me and is obsessed about the hookers to the exclusion of everything else.
I think Claire Balding made a decent fist of anchoring the programme on BBC. She had obviously done her homework and had good command of her brief.

I don't like Davies' "just watch this" comments all the time. He is supposed to be describing what is going on, not saying "just watch this" all the time! Very disjointed.

On the whole, there has NEVER been a totally neutral or decent commentator on RL that I can recall. Even Jack Deardon on BBC Manchester Radio (I think he's an Oldham supporter) is totally biased towards Wigan each and every week. I'm getting sick of it!
