I see that Wigan RLFC were on last week’s government list of ‘rogue employers’ failing to pay the minimum wage! Only related to one employee, unlike Tesco’s nearly 78,000+

True and it is always an admin error or misunderstanding.

You would have thought they would be wanting to avoid these misunderstandings as they reflect badly on Wigan and RL.

I can, sort of, understand how an "admin error" leads to 78000 Tesco employees being short by £70 each, but more baffled how you underpay 1 person by £4.5k without that person saying something?

The annual salary on minimum wage is £15,269 per year (source: ons.gov.uk), so (it seems difficult to get exact details) they were paying a full-time worker around £10,800 per year?

Fairly despicable for a major sporting institution, if you ask me. It's not like they're a small business who has a book-keeper in one day a week to do payroll.

Isn’t this old news and since been resolved? I’m no Wigan fan but this extended pre season is really getting to people.

Indeed, and it really is nobody else's business, IF true and IF said individual carried on working it is not an issue, same as the alleged people working for Tesco, a lot of fake news around at the moment, but some swallow it up.
