Rugby Union: When entertainment just isn't your thing.

Worthy of note amongst the usual online bickering - 18 year old Morgan Smithies last night made 72 tackles in the game. Breaking the record held by Steele Retchless in 1998 of 66 tackles against Bradford.

Mac out!

That was an exciting game to watch. As Watson said the Reds gave it to Wigan.

Reds v Cas on Thur should be a belter

Cheshire, it's Lancashire really

There are some fans so obsessed with their own teams that they are in denial when they are not involved in a match. Some must also get a hard on when they watch the repetitive NRL.
Last night’s game was a good watch for the armchair neutrals.

It was garbage, you find the NRL repetitive, deary me, no wonder RL in the UK is f'd. Constant laying on, off side, slow play the ball, poor passing "skill"...

Because I am a fan of RL, the way it should be played. Not the stifled rubbish we get served up each week with the inane build up and commentary. I pay my money, I am entitled to comment. RL in the form of SL is inferior to the NRL, that is why we can't beat the Aussies, our best RL players are all in the NRL.

Save your breath he's clearly another incarnation of Ruune/LeBron/Jean etc

As for last night it was a stressful watch as a Salford fan. Pre-game we all had the "nothing to lose, everything to gain" mindset but when you're in a dogfight which can go either way that carefree attitude flies out the window! :D

Was proud of us last night. A couple of better decisions by our players (sure we had a 4 to 1 overlap at one point we bombed) and a bit more luck from the VR (it looked like Lussick had for the ball down to me) and we could have pulled it off. Wigan's defence is outstanding though so you have to give them some credit.

Hopefully we can regroup for next Thursday as I'd fancy us to beat Cas if we can reproduce last night's effort.

Being a Salford fan, you live for games like.last night as they don't come around often. I think some of the bigger clubs really do take them for granted which is a shame. Would be great to see 7/8 teams genuinely having a sniff at playoff rugby every season rather than the usual faces.

I can assure you I am not an incarnation of anyone, I think RL is poor, last night was 2nd v 3rd, it looked like Sunday Rugby.

Some Salford fan said to me and I quote "You are by far and away the most Handsome & Knowledgeable Rugby League Fan in England!"

I thanked him and went on my Merry way!

RIVERCAVE DWELLER OF THE YEAR 2015!

"The club used you last night and didn't tell the truth."

Officially one of the 119 Mugs used by the club

When was the last time rugby league in this country any good then?
When was the RL coverage up to your standard previously?

Because unless your answer is pre 1970 then we didn't beat the Aussies then either.
Your entitled to your opinion, others are too.

In my 40 plus years of watching we've never been that close as a competition to matching the Australian equivalent.
We probably have as many very good players of international standard playing the game that can comport with Australia and New Zealand than we've had in my lifetime (I accept we may not have the 2or3 superstars we may have had in the past at any one time).
Having all our players playing in our competition and I would say SL would be much better.
But factor in exchange rates, professional rugby union and the salary cap disparity which, salary cap wise is as a result of the RFL evening out strategy that's seen the biggest reason for the stagnation of our competition and is it any wonder.

I like a lot of what elstone is trying to do, but we can't expect them to change overnight the 10/15 years of steady decline.
It will take at least as long to reignite it.

Last night whilst not the greatest was a good honest play off scrap, tight and really tense in parts.
Salford fans were fantastic, decent effort from Wigan fans but nothing special.
Pretty good atmosphere at the game, roll on next week.

We all know you're a troll. If you dislike Rugby League then take yourself off to another board and bore some other poor sods to death. :D
