Hopefully they get promoted, and then they become Super League club's 'pain in the butt'. Although being 'full time' players they won't need to book 3 days off work to travel to Canada and back.

There’s a strange attitude in RL whereby people are somehow proud that we have part time players in the game.

We should be embarrassed. There shouldn’t be any part time players in the Championship. It’s only because most clubs are so unviable as a modern sports club that they either can’t or don’t want to pay their players a full time wage yet want to participate in a professional league.

The fact any players at any Championship club have to book time off work should be embarrassing to us. And none of that is Toronto’s fault.

If Championship clubs don’t want professional responsibilities then we should cut them off from the professional structure in the same way as we keep the NCL and League 1 separate.

There are hardly rich owners queueing up to own/buy a RL club are they, and credit for David argyle for wanting to do so. They do the best they can, with most budgeting on crowds averaging 500 -2000 spectators, apart from Bradford, Leigh, & Widnes.
Hardly any of the championship/league 1 clubs have Super League asspirations, only Toronto, Toulouse, Leigh, London (last season) and maybe Widnes & Bradford Bulls do, if they can get finances in order.
A lot of the 'lower league' players have got days jobs, which is better for them as when their careers finish, they're not relying on the sport to keep them in employment. Embarrassing isn't a word I would use, just a 'fact of life' about Rugby League in this country.....NO clubs make a profit worthy of mention, just ask Wigan....(The most prestigious club in our game)

Yes you should, especially with the dross (Leeds) your team, keep serving up every week.

The Leigh and Wakefield fans mentality......

What has Leeds performances got to do with this discussion? Why is it you always have to take things in a different direction when you don’t agree with the narrative. Him makes some good points so absolutely no need to just resort to petty insults.

But then my signature sums it up perfectly

And why does him have to resort to derogatory comments about part time players and clubs below pooperleague ? Is that not a different direction on this Toronto thread?
Regarding signatures, check Willzay, that definitely sums you up.

Anyway, thanks for your interest JEAN.

Add to that the reduction in central funding for Championship & League 1 clubs so that SL clubs can have a bigger slice.

Championship fans want to see their club make it to SL, but most of the clubs know that it's beyond their capability to make that a reality. If you look at the Championship table over the last few years, you'll see that clubs that have been in the Championship for a long time tend to finish the season in the round about the same position year on year. Only the introduction of additional clubs has any noticeable change to their final positions

Of course, yet Him has the audacity to say we are an embarrassment.

That's so funny. Just how many SL clubs would be running with wholly FT squads without the near £2m from Sky each year?

Why do you think I don’t include some SL clubs in that same embarrassment?

Anyway, thanks for your interest JEAN.

Please quote where I made derogatory comments about any player, part or full time.
I didn’t. But I knew someone would try and distort the comments instead of answering what I actually put.

I might disagree but at least budgiezilla answered with reasonable points.
