TotalRL understands the Bulls had agreed a deal to sign a young player from a Super League club earlier this month, but the move was blocked by the governing body due to concerns over funding. The decision was made as the RFL didn’t have enough proof to suggest the Bulls were in a financial position to fund the deal on top of their current spend. Each club is given a maximum spend limit based on several income streams. Exemptions can be made if a club can provide proof of funds that go beyond their maximum figure. In the last 12 months, both Leigh Centurions and Widnes Vikings have had the same sanction placed over them following their own financial issues. It means the Bulls will not be allowed to recruit any further players before the upcoming transfer deadline on August 9th unless they can prove they are in a position to fund any new contracts. Any outgoings would potentially help them in their attempts to facilitate incomings. The news comes after it was revealed the Bulls are currently dealing with two separate County Court Judgements, though an official from the club confirmed to League Express the matters will be resolved in the coming days. Earlier this month, the RFL also took a proportion of the club’s latest central distribution instalment to settle monies owed to two of their opponents in the Challenge Cup.

Are you suggesting that the RFL put a guy in charge of the Bulls that doesn't have sufficient funds? If so then who's to blame?

The number of full time players at the club is surely not financially sustainable

The RFL didn’t put anyone in charge of Bradford.
What is sufficient funds? Sufficient for what level of spending?

Who is to blame for Bradford trying to spend more money than they have? Bradford. Nobody else.

You can't put this on the RFL.

Bradford's ownership are responsible for running the business sustainably and, on the face of it, it's something that they aren't doing. You can't blame the RFL for that.

The 'fit and proper' test is not what I suspect many people think it is. I suspect it's nothing more than a check to see if the applicant doesn't have directorship exclusions, criminal histories, etc.

No excuse if we go bust this season. Absolutely none.
We got £100k for selling Wilson to Hudds and then we got a bumper crowd against Leeds in the cup which we surely can't have budgeted for.

If the current ownership have gambled on achieving a certain final league standing AGAIN, after everything that has gone before, then I'm done supporting this club. I can't go through another administration.

I saw concerns on their site a while back of a few CCJs but these can be small issues and an be soon sorted out.

hope they have learned from past experiences

The ccj’s are more concerning than this tbh.

The salary cap in the championship works differently to superleague and you have to prove funding to spend to a certain level at the start of the year.

A few clubs have been blocked from signing players on this basis.

They’ll have wanted a bond for this signing up front.

The payment of cup gate receipts through central funding is also common practice.

The ccj’s are more concerning along with the cash flow issues caused by the damage it does to your credit file. ongoing talks about where we will play next year etc. That leaves me worried tbh.

Like northus says go bust again and I’m done with the sport.

Not sure how true that is and surely if it were, why would clubs be complaining to the RFL about non payment of shared gate money? All in all each bit wouldn't be too concerning in isolation but added together.......
