This is apparently window dressing. According to Australian commentators on the Fox Sports TV show NRL360, the Gold Coast Titans have decided on Justin Holbrook but as a courtesy are waiting for St Helens to make their announcement first. This is because Malcolm Norman Meninga, a key figure at the Titans, has a special respect and affection for St Helens, for whom he played in 1984-85.

From what I’ve heard, Adam O’Brien is likely to be Holbrook’s replacement. 12 years as assistant to Bellamy at Melbourne mainly working on the attacking side of things and now assistant to Trent Robinson. Would be a great appointment for Saints.

Justin Holbrook was an assistant to Trent Robinson at the Sydney Roosters right before he was appointed as head coach by St. Helens. I think that the St Helens administration have great respect for Trent Robinson.

Jason Ryles and Jason Demetriou the other two possibilities. One of the three I’ve been told, O’Brien the strong favourite currently.
