Simon Johnson, the RFL’s Senior Non-Executive Director who chairs the Championship and League One forum, said: “The clubs were in principle supportive, by a comfortable majority, of the proposals for both Ottawa and New York to join the competitions, and for the RFL Board to continue to exercise its discretion to negotiate with both clubs, and to make a decision in due course.”

---

One step closer for the next 2 North American clubs, getting support from a comfortable majority of lower league clubs.

Let the meltdown commence.

If they do it the right way like Toronto I don’t see how anyone can complain

Perez has stated he isn't doing it the Toronto way.

What did he say exactly?

And what is "the Toronto way" for clarification?

Eric Perez is a very gifted entrepreneur with an ability to think "outside the box." He may or may not follow the procedures he initiated so successfully with Toronto.

Eric Perez will do what is necessary to see the north American expansion revolution through to a successful outcome in Super League.

Avignon for Championship in 2021, Super League in 2022!

In speaking to the media after the presentations had been done he said that he had left Toronto following differences in opinion over the way forward with the development of the club and player pool between himself and those at Toronto. He also said that the Ottawa club if approved would look to develop a local player pool to feed local players into the team even should that mean that promotion took longer to achieve, rather than seeking to bring in a squad totally from elsewhere to reach the top tier asap as has been done in Toronto. He said that because of the organisation involved in the Ottawa bid that such an approach was more suitable and desirable. There is an article about it on the Total RL website.

He said that they would go more slowly with Ottowa, so, throwing the money at the project more slowly

I read it more as throwing the money at the project in a different direction. It's good to see they're looking to focus on building a player pool. My concern is how this may affect initial supporter interest (which could then potentially affect invester interest). We shall see, but in Perez I trust.

Well they are starting at the bottom, so it couldn't have been that that he was referring to.
