Didn't get to the game so had to listen on radio and seems like we gave it a decent go. Sounds like Welham had a bit of a 'mare and we gifted them one of the tries but can't be too disheartened just getting pipped away at a quality side like Cas. Like someone said, Lussick at 9 for is a cracking player..... unfortunately Cas have more than a half decent hooker themselves in McShane!

On to Wigan next week now and hopefully a win. They don't come along very often against the Pies so we need to kick them while they're down and exploit their weaknesses.

I said before the match I would happily accept a small defeat, well after getting my wish I feel a little gutted as we could have probably won that game. Two missed kicks and a few dumb errors and there the small margins between winning and losing against the leagues top sides.

Like Watto said after the match we are a young side but they have got to realise how good they actually are, not a bad day again for one of super leagues whipping boys and my guess is there are plenty of super league clubs who will take a four point loss to Castleford Away with open legs er I mean arms right now.

Special mention to Ken Sio who dislocated his shoulder popped it back in and came back on to help the cause, we have some team spirit indeed.

I’d agree with most of this. Salford went well, made few errors and used the ball well. The game could have gone either way.
My only real comment was the Salford’s coaching staff were naive with Sio’s substitution. They’d sent his replacement on before he’d left the field and when his shoulder popped back in he had to come off anyway. He was then put back on again about five minutes later. Who knows what would have happened if Salford hadn’t used those two interchanges, it could have made a difference in the last ten minutes.
Thought Evalds looked very good, as did the hooker. I’ll be honest, I’m not too sure on Hastings. Some of the stuff he does looks good, but at times I thought the simple pass would have been the better option. Cas soon worked out that inside flick-pass. Reminds me a bit of Rangi Chase, but not as good.

Glad to get away from that game with the win. Salford came at us well and at one point I thought they would win They impressed me massively yesterday. They're a good team and think if they keep adding bits of quality if they can over the next few years will really be a consistent team.
