Well - not in theory you deregister them as a player, not as an employee. They still get paid by the club and are under contract to the club, they just can't play until they get registered.

Or do you also think the players that don't get registered to the 23 man squad in Football are free to walk away from a contract too?

my opinion is no club should do it. including mine. the cap is the cap. player gets injured then tough.

The de-registering of a player only means that he can't play for the club. The player is still contracted to the club and the club still hold the registration.

We'll, now they can't complain about Wigan in 06 Anyhow, this is why you have a squad isn't it? I wonder if Powell is worried his other halfback options aren't up to it.

“ Hodgson rule” from Australia? Normally only applys in Australia if the player is injured on international duty. Else they could de-register him for the whole season in which case his salary would not count on the cap?

Well if Powell isn’t worried, he should be.
Jamie Ellis is injured and looks so unfit it’s untrue. He’s also bang average at best.
Ben Roberts will be in hibernation until the sun comes out in June.
Corey Aston hasn’t played in SL and didn’t stand out in a lower division.

He’s talking about Segayaro. The money Leeds paid him before he left was then wiped from the cap (and rightly so).
